Thirty years of resistance and here I am with a blog after all...
Perhaps the borg were right...
This blog has started as a learning experience for my work. I'm a librarian, and I'm about to run a course for customers on Blogging. In order to preserve my integrity, I figured I'd better actually learn something about blogs before teaching others and so "thelauragirl's adventures in libraryland" is born! I'm not really a pink kind of person, more purple really, but as there is no purple template this will have to do for the time being! I don't quite feel ready for the "create your own template" experience.
The funny thing is that my fiance and friends have often commented that I should have a blog - I think that's because I am opinionated and really where better to be opinionated than on one's blog?!? Captive audience and all that. Given that my diary writing experience in the past has lasted little beyond a new years resolution and a week's worth of entries, we'll see how long this lasts.
Generally speaking I dislike blogs in the same way I detest TV talk-shows; they both seem to be populated with sad people who have an overinflated sense of themselves, keen to air dirty laundry in public for the gratification of even sadder people who watch/read them. Having said that, I have often found myself caught up in the web of blogs, unable to tear myself away, needing to know what happens next, aarrgghhh... And then there are those wonderfully witty people who create fabulously interesting missives on everyday life, whose wit the average mortal like me can only hope to mimic. Now, as the creator of my very own blogdom, it seems I too have the power to capture the imagination of others. The only question that remains is: will she use her powers for good or for evil?
Until next time!
